Come meet author Perry Hibner and learn about his book, Centennial Revisited: An Oral History of the Epic TV Miniseries, which looks back at the 12-episode, 26-hour event that first aired on NBC in 1978. The book contains more than 75 interviews with cast, crew, extras, locals, experts, and fans. After the author’s book talk, there will be a Q&A and a book signing. Books will be on sale at the event. No registration is required for this free event.

Spend an evening with acclaimed author Connie Willis as she talks about her characters, her craft, and what it really takes to bring a story to life. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and connect with one of today’s most celebrated voices in science fiction. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to her work, this event offers a unique chance to step inside the mind of a master storyteller.

Professor Robert Gudmestad will describe the social world of sailors in the Union Navy’s Mississippi Squadron. As depicted in his book, The Devil’s Own Purgatory, this Squadron was known for their heavy drinking and resistance to authority, yet they were effective sailors. 

Following the author talk, there will be a Q&A session and a book signing. Books will be available for sale on-site. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required. 

Thursday, Sept. 24, LINC Library Innovation Center

A small group of northern Colorado mystery authors presents an engaging discussion on the enduring appeal of the mystery genre. This lively program explores how classic “Golden Age” authors such as Agatha Christie have influenced their own stories, as well as modern twists on crime fiction. The panel will share insights into their writing journeys, answer audience questions, and offer recommended mystery reads — including their favorite Christie titles. Perfect for fans of whodunits and suspense, this event highlights talented writers right here in our community.
