Curbside Pickup At Your Library

Basic Steps

1. Place Items On Hold

Items can be placed on hold by logging in to your library account on mylibrary.us. You may also call 1-888-861-READ (7323) for assistance. Wait times may be longer than usual.

2. Wait for Confirmation That Your Items Have Arrived

You will receive notification that your items are ready for pickup. Before you can pick them up you will need to schedule a pickup (see Step 3). Please do not attempt to schedule a pickup before being notified that your items are ready.

3. Schedule Your Curbside Pickup Appointment

Before you can pick up items that you’ve been notifed are ready at your location of choice, you need to call and schedule a specific time slot. Call 1-888-861-READ (7323) to schedule your pickup time. This is required to pick up your items. No items will be available for pickup without a scheduled appointment.

4. Pick Up Your Items During Your Scheduled Pickup Window

After confirming your time slot, arrive at your pickup location sometime within that period, and you will find your items outside the library, checked out and ready to be picked up. Follow the signs outside the library. You will not need to enter buildings or approach staff to receive your items.

FAQ

Q: What should I expect when I arrive to pick up items?

You will find your items bagged, and a hold slip will be attached to the outside. There will be multiple pickups scheduled for each hour, so please make sure you’re taking only your items. Pickups will be alphabetized, and all of your items will be together. Check that you are taking all of your items as large pickups may be spread across multiple bags. Tags should be visible without touching, so please only touch your items, bags, and tags.

Q: What if I'm early or late for my pickup window?

Early: Your items will not be ready or available until the appointed time.

Late: You will need to reschedule your pickup by calling 1-888-861-READ (7323) within 3 days of missing your pickup. Please do not attempt late pickups by entering the building or approaching staff.

Q: What are the available hours for pickup?

Because of differing staffing levels and needs, the available hours for pickup are different at each location. When placing holds, you have the option to select a pickup location. When placing holds, you may select a location that’s close and has hours that match up with your schedule.

Please note: These are only available windows for pickup. No other library services will be available, and no buildings will be open. Please do not attempt to enter buildings at these times or any other times.

Additionally, some branches have a 30-minute window at the end of the day Monday-Thursday. Although this window is shorter, it’s allowing us to stretch as far as possible into the evening to make later pickups possible. Please confirm the time and length of your pickup window when you make your appointment.

Remember, these are windows for appointments. You will not be able to pick up any items without an appointment.

Yes, member libraries are currently working on their curbside pickup hours (5/1/2020).

Q: When are my items due back?

Items due dates will vary depending on item type and are calculated based on checkout date. Please check the receipt included with your items to find exact due dates. You can renew items through our web site or by calling 1-888-861-READ (7323). There will not be daily fines for overdue items, however if your item is more than 42 days overdue, it will be considered lost, and replacement charges will be applied to your library account.

Q: I already have items checked out, pre-closure. When are those due?

All items checked out before May 1st are now due on May 15th.

Q: How does item return work?

Please return items to the outside book drop at the location of your choice. Please do not leave returned items anywhere other than the book drop. Please do not attempt to return items by leaving them in the holds pickup locations. We’re quarantining returned items for certain periods, and by returning items to the book drops, we can make sure we’re doing this with every item. If you find the outside book drop full, do not leave items outside or attempt to force items through. You do not need to make an appointment to return items.

If you can’t return items for any reason, please contact us by calling 1-888-861-READ (7323).

No. At this time we are not able to get items through the Prospector or Interlibrary Loan lending systems. Please do not place holds on these systems at this time.

Q: Will you be lending Speciality Checkout items such as laptops?

Not at this time.

Q: What precautions are in place to keep this as safe as possible?

While we cannot be certain library items are 100% virus-free, we are following CDC recommendations, and we are taking precautions to prevent cross-contamination. Library materials are quarantined for 72 hours before being re-shelved, and we are following social distancing guidelines in the building as well as limiting the number of staff present. Staff are being screened when they arrive at work, and they are required to wear masks while working. We are also limiting the number of pickups to 10 patrons per hour to prevent large gatherings.
