Libraries Closed and Events Cancelled Until Further Notice

(Greeley – March, 2020) – All HPLD libraries are closed until further notice. During this time, HPLD Administration will evaluate the ongoing situation and adjust closures as needed. All library programs, events, classes and meetings at our libraries have been cancelled.

The District is auto-renewing checked out materials and materials on hold shelves will not expire. We ask that patrons keep their items and not return them at this time.

All Library Events Cancelled Beginning March 14, 2020

(Greeley – March, 2020) – Due to the ongoing threat of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to combat its spread, the High Plains Library District will be cancelling library programs, events, classes and meetings beginning March 14.

“Our libraries will continue to be open regular operating hours, but we continue to closely monitor the recommendations put out by the CDC, the Colorado Department of Health, and the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment,” said Dr. Matthew Hortt, Executive Director of High Plains Library District. “These cancellations will be effective for the next three weeks, at which point we will re-evaluate the situation. In the meantime, we hope our patrons still utilize digital resources like Kanopy and Hoopla if remaining at home.”

Additionally, the District will begin auto-renewing checked out materials and materials on the Hold shelf will not expire. We ask that patrons keep their items and not return them at this time.

HPLD Staff Improvement Day at UNC Postponed


(Greeley – March, 2020) – Due to ongoing health concerns related to the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the High Plains Library District has made the decision to postpone its annual Staff Improvement Day which was scheduled to take place Friday, March 13.

“The safety of our staff and patrons across the District is paramount as we all navigate this pandemic. We look forward to a time in the future when the threat of Coronavirus subsides and we urge everyone to stay safe in the coming weeks and months,” said Dr. Matthew Hortt, Executive Director of High Plains Library District. “We are in close contact with the Weld County Health Department in monitoring the ongoing situation and will continue to follow their recommendations.”

HPLD libraries were previously going to be closed for this Staff Improvement Day; in light of this postponement, HPLD libraries will be open on Friday, March 13, with regular operating hours. Along with an updated cleaning schedule, we are providing hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes at all our locations and encourage our staff and patrons to use them should they feel the need.
