Colorado's_Nature_event.jpg

Colorado's Nature: Whiskers, Hooves and Antlers

We drew four lines to box off a chunk of land that we subsequently named Colorado. It sprawls across portions of the Great Plains, the Rocky Mountains, and the Colorado Plateau. Textured with river canyons and mountain ranges, and robed in lifescapes of grasslands, shrublands, and treelands, this place we call home supports a wealth of wildlife more diverse than a storyteller’s imagination. “Colorado’s Nature” will spend the next year enriching what you already know about that wildlife, introducing you to kinds of wildlife you never knew were your neighbors, and detailing when, where, and how to find that wildlife.

December's program is "Whiskers, Hooves and Antlers: Everything about Mammals and Mammaling." Hooves and horns characterize some of them; pointed canines and chisel-edged incisors distinguish others. Some smell really well; others stink something awful. They turn soil by digging tunnels and disperse plants by storing seeds. Some live in trees; some chew down trees. Such are the fascinating lives of Colorado's mammals.

Join us at Farr Regional Library on December 8, 12-1:30 pm.
