eReader Support

While I can’t tell you which eReader to buy as a gift or for yourself, I can tell you that HPLD has a lot of book titles to choose from for nearly any device and the knowledge to help you access them. The first step is setting up your eReader (and in some cases your computer) so that you can read titles on your new device. Our staff have created videos and brochures to help you navigate this on your own if you like or, if you are a little anxious about taking this on solo, you can set up some time with a librarian to help you set things up and show you how to download titles. Our Book a Librarian appointments are completely free of charge and can be the most expedient way to get your new device up and running with library titles. Below you will find resources and links to help you make the most of your new reader.

eBooks and Audio eBooks Guide Librarian Peter Derk has assembled a guide complete with how to videos and help links to help new eReader users access free materials through the library and elsewhere.

Book A Librarian This form will allow you to submit a request for one on one support with a librarian at your HPLD library of preference at a time that is convenient for you.

Overdrive & Adobe Digital Editions Overdrive provides the library with the eBooks that can be downloaded to eReaders. Their support pages, instant chat, videos and email can help you figure things out at any time of day or night.

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is required for some devices and a download of software and creation of an ID may be needed. It works in conjunction with Overdrive. You can learn more about ADE at this site.
